Assistant Management Accountant - 12 month FTC

Full-time (37.5 hours)

The Role:

The successful candidate will deputise for the Finance Manager and provide HoD's and Senior Management Team with accurate and timely financial and statistical information, supporting them to manage their functions within budgets. This is a 12 month FTC working 37.5 hours a week.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create a positive, supportive and collaborative working environment;
  • Always act in a professional manner and maintain sound effective working relationships with all service users, clinic staff;
  • Continually seek ways to improve efficiencies in the direct remit of the role and in the wider clinic;
  • Actively contribute to the future success of the clinic, and in particular to your department by identifying new opportunities; by recommending, developing or improving services;
  • Deputise and manage the finance team in the Finance Manager's absence;
  • Ensure Financial information is prepared in accordance with UK GAAP on a scheduled basis for internal and external submission;
  • Assist with the preparation of the management accounts at the month-end, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of reporting.
  • Perform and maintain key Balance Sheet account reconciliations at each period end (month end, quarter end, half-yearly and year-end), ensuring reconciling items are cleared on a regular basis;
  • Set up and maintain appropriate KPI's to manage and report operational performance across the business;
  • Produce key weekly/monthly reports to aid decision making, including weekly flash Report;
  • Produce analysis and reports as requested by the Finance Manager;
  • Assist with the preparation of the clinic's monthly reporting pack, forecasting and annual budget, investigating variances and providing commentary;
  • Special projects and any other duties as required;
  • Assist with Month End/Year End and Audit requests;

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in a finance department
  • Finance Qualification, (ideally part-qual level)
  • Have knowledge of finance processes - month-end/year-end and audit
  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Purchase ledger management
  • Ability to process Billing through Purchase Ledger
  • Allocation of payments
  • Experience in producing reports
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be strong numerically and have excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Knowledge of computerised accounting packages;
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of tasks;
  • Experience in using Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Knowledge of Private Medical Insurance
  • Working with the private healthcare sector
  • Taking telephone payments
  • Performing reconciliations
  • Debt management
  • Knowledge of BACs Payment Runs
