About the RolePurpose of the role

This is a role in the Risk and Compliance Function of Paragon Bank, providing support to the Prudential Risk Manager in the review and challenge of key regulatory and business processes, identifying risks and issues and ensuring that the Bank develops best practice and meets regulatory rules and expectations.

This is a new role in a new and developing area of the Risk and Compliance Function. We are looking for a candidate that is willing to learn and develop in the area of prudential (capital, liquidity, market risk and stress testing) risk management, can work in an open and collaborative way within a small team, has good writing and communication skills.

The suitable candidate will need to demonstrate an understanding of banking and whilst this is a junior role, the successful candidate will be fully supported in their development with access to training to build technical skills and a career with Paragon Bank.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Working as part of the prudential Risk Team, the successful candidate will undertake the following duties:

    To develop and maintain a comprehensive monitoring and tracking framework for regulatory developments and actions, which includes but not limited to:
Tracking regulatory developments and issues across prudential risks from correspondence, meetings and press releasesWorking with all relevant areas of the business to identify upcoming issues (horizon scanning)Identifying owners and ensuring appropriate mitigations/actions plans are in place and are managed through to completionTo produce reports for key committees covering regulatory developments and horizon scanning. To support the Prudential Risk Manager in the delivery of reviews across prudential risks and regulatory data returns To update and manage the prudential risk review recommendations and actions database and be responsible for reporting of outstanding actions to senior managementTo build knowledge of key regulations and industry developments and to remain up to date with changes in the prudential risk areas (liquidity and funding, capital, regulatory reporting etc)About YouSkills
    A knowledge and understanding of banking and banking regulations would be helpful. The candidate should have a strong desire and willingness to continue to build knowledge and develop in this areaAn understanding of the role of the Risk Function in a bankHave good data, writing and communication skills who is able to share their thoughts and ideas in a confident mannerExperience using Microsoft Office specifically Excel and PowerPointBe able to work independently and, at the same time, support the wider team as needed
Qualifications and Skills You must be a graduate with at least a 2:1 in a relevant subject e.g. Economics, Finance and BankingWorking hours37.5 hours per week - whilst our standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (one hour for lunch) we encourage flexible working and your preferred options will be considered.
