Our client is one of the leading law firms in the Southeast, and one of oldest law firms in operation in the world,

With over 140 fee earners, their specialist practice areas include Commercial, Corporate, Employment, Construction, Real Estate and Agriculture & Rural Affairs

They have an exciting opportunity for a Revenue Controller. The main purpose of this role is to improve speed and accuracy of billing fees to clients, through engagement with fee earners, review of matter listings and assistance with the billing process.

Responsibilities

  • Review matter WIP aging and billing history in order to assess collectability of WIP and potential billing opportunities.
  • Meet regularly with fee earners to discuss their matter listings and identify which matters should be billed imminently.
  • Monitor outcome of fee earner meetings and follow-up as necessary.
  • Provide regular reports of projected billings and potential issues to department heads and to the Finance Director.
  • Assist fee earners and secretaries with initiating complex bills.
  • Assist fee earners and secretaries with billing and 3E workflow queries.
  • Input and maintain standard and non-standard charge-out rates
  • Liaise with Credit Controller to identify and help manage potential debt collection issues.
  • Assist Cashiers with processing bills when required at month-ends.
  • Other tasks as required by the Finance Director.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 3 years working in a law firm.
  • Experience of law firm billing processes, including treatment of disbursements.
  • Good understanding of law firm fee arrangements, including hourly rates, fixed fees and conditional fee arrangements.
  • Good understanding of the VAT rules applicable to law firm fees.
  • Experience of using Law Firm computerised PMS and billing systems.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience of revenue management in a professional services business.
  • Experience of working with the Elite 3E Practice Management System.
