About us

Avencia Consulting are currently recruiting on behalf of a global Insurance & Reinsurance firm, based in the City, who are looking to hire a Financial Reporting Manager to join on a permanent basis.

The role

To manage the preparation and delivery of quarterly and annual financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP accountancy standards and to SEC reporting deadlines.

Key accountabilities

Delivery of Group Reporting:

  • Lead the group financial reporting team members, in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, consolidation and elimination journals, and supporting schedules;
  • Preparation of supplementary reconciliations to support the group consolidated results;
  • Manage the preparation of the semi-annual earnings release and quarterly financial supplement;
  • Assist with the preparation of internal and external slide presentations;
  • Manage the group financial reporting team in the preparation of SEC regulatory reports (20-F/6K) and associated XBRL filings through the use of Webfilings reporting software;
  • Manage the share capital schedules and reporting on various long-term incentive schemes;
  • Lead the group wide accounting for lease transactions;
  • Responsible for the production of the annual report and accounts and certain other regulatory reports or submissions within the remit of the group financial reporting team;
  • Production of the quarterly group reporting timetable, and co-ordination of group close activities to support group reporting activities; and
  • Maintain all files and supporting documentation for internal and external audit review.

Delivery of External Presentations:

  • Assist, where necessary, in the preparation of presentations and supporting documentation for external release;
  • Lead/assist in the preparation of corporate transaction presentations and supporting documentation; and
  • Maintain all files and supporting documentation for internal and external audit review.

Accounting Policies and Procedures:

  • Preparation of technical accounting papers where necessary; and
  • Updating existing accounting papers/policies for revisions and updates in accounting standards (FASB).

Additional Requirements:

  • Involvement in various different capacities with regards to ad-hoc projects and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with current and planned finance system change projects, including enhancements to existing systems and processes to implementation of new core financial systems.

Skills & experience

Qualified accountant (ICAEW ACA or equivalent), 5 to 10 years post qualified.

Big 4 audit firm experience

Experience in the insurance industry required, and ideally finance system change projects experience would be beneficial

Experience managing and leading team members.

Advanced Word / Excel / PowerPoint skills.
