Company Accountant / Finance Manager (4 days per week)| £40,000 - £45,000 | North Leeds (Harewood)

The Opportunity

There is so much to like. You'll have a high degree of autonomy and flexibility and a great work life balance. You'll be responsible for all day to day financial management for the business and be a key sounding board to the owner of this growing smaller business.

As Finance Manager you'll be the primary finance contact for this thriving SME business (recruitment sector) - reporting to the owner / MD.

You need to be a diligent and conscientious finance professional. Someone who enjoys working with autonomy and is able to methodically manage your own workload without any degree of micromanagement.

The business have recently pushed past £4m turnover and have excellent forecasts for the years ahead. It's a varied role but will also offer excellent work life balance - no outrageous deadlines, no burning the midnight oil - just a sensible, rewarding and hands on role in a welcoming, professional and vibrant company needing your financial support and guidance.

An agile SME, ran by brilliant people who are screaming out for your input - the role is either full time of 4 days per week for the right person.

The role will include

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Detailed cashflows and cash management
  • Bringing accounting processes and controls in house (including payroll, VAT etc)
  • Supporting year end requirements - liaising with external accountants
  • Analysis of non finance MI (sales activity, productivity metrics etc)
  • Calculation and payment of commissions
  • All aspects of month end close
  • Enhancing controls and embedding robust financial procedures

You need:

  • Previous experience as Finance Manager or Company Accountant within a professional SME ideally.
  • AAT qualification as a minimum
  • Experience of a recruitment business would be useful but not a prerequisite.
  • Great IT skills, the business have recently implemented Xero and exposure to Xero would really help.
  • The right team fit - this is key. The Directors have cultivated such a superb culture of togetherness and shared values... you need to be someone who will add to the party...
  • You'll be a highly methodical, hyper organised and extremely hands on accounting professional who loves working in a smaller business.
  • You need to be someone who will relish the autonomy of being the 'number 1 in finance'
