About this role

The Financial Markets Advisory business delivers a range of advisory services including capital markets, sustainability, portfolio construction and data & analytics solutions to financial institutions and official sector clients globally. We support our clients on their most critical and complex financial issues - from managing the low carbon transition of the economy and financial sector, to unwinding portfolios of assets, to crafting and executing institutional programmes to support the economy for example through bond purchase programmes or infrastructure investments.

We leverage the firm's sophisticated sustainability, capital markets, data & analytics and technology capabilities, to deliver impact-oriented advisory services, while maintaining an information barrier from the rest of the firm.

Since our founding, we have completed assignments for more than 280 clients in 37 countries. Our professionals work out of all three BlackRock regions (Americas, EMEA, APAC), allowing us to serve clients in all locations and respond to their needs as they arise.

We seek a candidate with data, analytics and modelling expertise to support FMA clients and their capital markets objectives based in London.

In this role you will partner with:

  • Externally: as part of the project team, you will engage with financial institutions, regulators, central banks and governments, providing advisory services to institutions in both the public and private sector

  • Internally: you will leverage BlackRock's unparalleled capabilities across Sustainable Investing, Capital Markets, Aladdin (incl. Aladdin Climate), and Research functions,



  • Enforce BlackRock's fiduciary culture of providing the highest quality service and work product to our clients

  • Work in large, multi-disciplinary project teams

  • Assist / lead the execution of capital markets and analytical efforts across recurring and ad-hoc client engagements

  • Develop technology, including BlackRock proprietary technology, to build, improve, and execute frameworks used for analytical content creation, quality control, and client results

  • Maintain a key focus on automation and scalability in the design and implementation of analytical infrastructure used for client engagements

  • Stay ahead of capital market trends and of the evolving landscape of relevant technical tools and solutions

  • Understand client and business context driving client opportunities and challenges

  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and pitches and demonstrate ability to synthesize sophisticated markets and analytics topics to internal and external audiences

Key skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience (for Associate candidates) within the financial services and/or technology industry

  • Strong programming skills in Python required; additional experience with a variety of other programming languages, especially scripting, data management, database, modelling, and visualization tools effective

  • Familiarity with development standard methodologies and associated tools

  • Broad understanding of financial institutions, fixed income assets and analytics, and capital markets a plus

  • Excellent problem-solving/ analytical skills and ability to learn new content quickly

  • Genuine passion for the financial sector, especially with a focus on capital markets

  • BA / BS degree in an engineering / quantitative / technical discipline
