HEAD OF GLOBAL ACCOUNTING SERVICES REQUIRED FOR 1 YEAR FTC

ICAEW or international equivalent Accountant required

Client Details

Leading International Charity with its headquarters based in Surrey are looking to recruit a Head of Global Accounting Services candidate on at least a 12-month fixed term contract basis.

This role will be responsible for leading the approach to Financial Accounting, control and compliance embedding a customer focused approach to balancing serving Country Offices to enable them to deliver their objectives, while ensuring that the organisation is protected financially and meets its statutory and regulatory compliance requirements.

Description

  • Lead strategic thinking to inform approach to Statutory Accounts, ensuring effective production of final audited accounts and appropriate engaging papers to inform and advice key stakeholders including LT, FAC, IB and MA.
  • Lead provision of technical financial advice and advice/recommendations of financial position, challenges in balance sheets, accounting reserves etc to ensure regulatory financial positions maintained and financial sustainability assured in order to support the successful delivery of the organisations international mission and strategy and ensure CEO/Executive Director Finance and IT/FAC/IB is able to have confidence in both the business financial position and the Finance function
  • Lead maximisation of the implementation of new ERP to improve financial accounting and reporting processes, simplify accounting transactions, and enable a culture of getting things right first time, on time, every time, minimising the need for GH Finance to have to undertake remedial work to compensate for shortcomings in systems, skills and behaviours.
  • Enhance customer service in relations to all aspects of financial accounting, particularly accounts payable and receivable, expenses etc, through integrating approach for all parts of, simplifying processes and improving procedures manuals/guidance, implementing appropriate KPIs/SLAs etc
  • Transform statutory accounting approach by integrating production of all legal entity accounts within one team, building comprehensive business understanding to ensure appropriately reflected in Accounts and aligned with management reporting, strengthening in year reporting to reduce additional requirements at year end
  • Monitor, control and manage resources to ensure objectives are delivered according to schedule and within budget.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and processes and lead the implementation of systems and process improvements in own area.
  • Develop and manage the ongoing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify and deliver solutions that benefit all.
  • Contribute to the transformation of financial accounting for the organisation to ensure simpler streamlined processes that minimise effort and complexity required while maintaining accuracy and impact
  • Evaluate risk with sound business and commercial judgement.
  • Champion change by role modelling the behaviour expected from all colleagues, develop, and communicate plans to ensure change is successfully implemented within own department.
  • Lead a team of specialists and manage their performance across all activities to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance.

Profile

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Extremely strong technical accounting expertise and experience
  • Good Accounting systems knowledge
  • Audit experience gained in practice
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAEW or international equivalent)
  • Breadth of financial experience within the iNGO (ideally humanitarian/development) or non-profit sectors, ideally including work in programme delivery countries would be preferred.
  • Strong project management skills
