Job Details

This role as Finance Assistant (Fixed term contract) will involve working in a small finance team to assist the team with all day-to day accounting activities and be responsible for all aspects of Accounts Payable, accounts receivable and the review and payment processing of employee expenses. You will work alongside the Finance Manager in preparation of the quarterly management accounts pack and other ad hoc account and tax projects.

Description

They key main responsibilities for this Finance Assistant (Fixed term contract) will include:

  • Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable

- Coding and entering invoices into the general ledger system

- Obtaining invoice approvals and set up the weekly payment run on the corporate banking platform

- Reviewing expenses ensuring they are in line with the Firms T&E Policy

- Coding and entering expenses and setting up a weekly expense payment run

- Processing of corporate credit card into the general ledger system

- Preparation of quarterly directors' fees and disbursement invoices to be invoiced to portfolio companies

- Processing of all bank entries including matching payments & direct debits to suppliers, sales receipts against the accounts receivable ledger

- Reconciliation of the group's bank accounts on a monthly basis

  • Accounting

- Assisting in the preparation of the monthly management accounts

- Updating fixed asset ledgers

- Booking depreciation journals

- Entering quarterly prepayment and accruals journal

- Assisting the Finance Manager in the preparation of statutory accounts

  • Tax Compliance and Reporting

- Assisting with the preparation of the quarterly VAT return

- Assisting with the preparation of the annual P11D and PSA submissions

Profile

The successful Finance Assistant (Fixed term contract) candidate will have:

  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated self‐starter with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Inquisitive, keen to understand 'why?'
  • Must be well motivated, hard working and happy to operate in a small company environment
  • An excellent knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft programs

  • Graduate - relevant degree obtained from a reputable University
  • 3 "A" Levels
  • Prior experience of accounts payable / receivable roles would be advantageous
  • Experience of QuickBooks and/or Netsuite is desirable
  • Ideally financial services background
