Job Profile Summary
  • Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager (Direct tax), this tax advisory role is for a member of the Direct tax team supporting the activities of the C&P business in Canada, the United States, and Latin America.
  • The role necessitates working with a broad network of multidisciplinary experts across bp to understand the business transactions with a view to providing commercially insightful tax advice; partnering with the global bp tax team enable value delivery.
  • The role holder will help to drive modernization across C&P tax and global tax processes through innovative approaches to standard processes, leveraging technology solutions as appropriate.
  • This role will be a key contributor within a global team of tax professionals located in the US and Latin America supporting bp's C&P business activities across North America.

Job AdvertKey Accountabilities
  • The person will provide the Customers & Products businesses with tax advice and analysis of U.S. federal income tax law.
  • The person will meet with business personnel to advise and provide counsel on tax matters.
  • The person will assist senior tax advisors in providing tax assurance on investments decisions and work to ensure completed transactions are reported correctly in the federal tax return.
  • The person will support the Tax Operations audit team on inquiries from the fiscal authorities.
  • The person will ensure that Customers & Products businesses are compliant with US federal tax laws and that business is conducted in a tax efficient manner.
Essential Education:
  • Education/Professional Qualifications: A degree level qualification and with a preference for CPA certification.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
  • Experience: At least 5+ years of relevant tax planning and advisory experience, with a strong preference for oil and gas tax experience
Technical Expertise:
  • Understanding of US corporate tax law and experience reviewing corporate governance and transaction documents as it relates to tax matters.
  • Understanding of financial modelling and business drivers as they impact and are impacted by US tax requirements.
Skills:
  • Excellent writing skills for purposes of internal communication, business advice, and drafting of corporate and transactional documents.
  • Excellent analytical skills in the areas of US federal domestic taxation.
  • Strong understanding of financial and tax accounting.
