The role of Finance Manager (Leases & Assets) sits within the TUI Global Business Services (TGBS) Finance Division who provide accounting & control services across the TUI Group. The division's remit continues to expand as the need for greater cross-group coordination and alignment accelerates.

This newly created role reports into the Financial Controller Central Processes and will be primarily responsible for the accurate accounting and control of leases under IFRS 16 plus tangible & intangible assets. Although this role is matrix in nature encompassing the UK&I and Central Europe (CE) regions the role focuses heavily on supporting the UK&I. In addition, there is scope for this role to grow in the future as other regions are aligned.

This is a key role within the organisation and although it would be desirable for the successful candidate to have IFRS16 experience this is not a pre-requisite. However, the individual will need to have sound financial accounting experience allied with an 'attention-to-detail' combined with a logical and problem-solving mind. This role heavily interacts with senior management and operational business users and therefore the successful individual will need to have excellent inter-personal skills.

The role is supported by 2 direct reports in the UK&I and 3 direct reports based in Hannover, Germany. As such, a small element of travel (potentially twice a year) maybe required in the future. TUI believes that work is something you do, not somewhere you go, so with this in mind for this role, we offer hybrid working, and you would only be expected to come to the office once per week (once fully inducted).


  • Management of lease engine accounting results: management of the Tagetik lease engine ensuring new leases, modifications, etc are accurately recorded within the system. Own and drive the development and implementation of effective, efficient and well documented control processes thereby ensuring integrity of the IFRS16 lease engine in terms of calculations and resulting output and accounting within SAP/Hyperion.
  • Management of the fixed asset register (FAR): ensure all fixed & intangible assets in terms of depreciation/amortisation, additions, disposals, etc. are accurately and appropriately classified within the FA ledger and reflected correctly within SAP/Hyperion. Organise and conduct monthly Assets Under Construction (AUC) meetings with the UK business to ensure assets are being correctly capitalised and dealt with appropriately. Ensure any adjustments stemming from the annual impairment exercise / UEL reviews carried out by the UK business are accurately reflected within the FAR.
  • Financial Control: oversee / produce relevant lease and fixed asset balance sheet reconciliations along with completion of the month end control file which meets our internal (COSO) and external audit requirements. Act as a focal point for external audit related queries and develop clear process documentation on relevant areas.
  • Operational guidance: provide operational guidance on (IFRS16) lease accounting and fixed assets to UK&I / CE accounting colleagues and non-finance personnel as required.
  • Reporting: develop and own lease & fixed asset reporting which provides management with business insight and is of sufficient depth to support any regulatory requirements.
  • Delivering operational effectiveness: challenging and aligning existing accounting processes across source markets (UK/CE). Adopting optimal working practices in order to meet business needs in an efficient, effective and consistent way.
  • SLA's: business requirements have been met in a timely manner along with the production of the monthly KPI pack.
  • Team leadership & development: management of direct reports in the UK and Germany, measuring their performance against clear objectives. Fostering people development by ensuring regular team meetings, 1:1's and personal development plans are in place.


  • Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
