Financial Controller - Lincoln - £45k- £50k + bonus + benefits
THE BACKGROUND
Benjamin Edwards is currently recruiting for a progressive, fast-paced SME. The Financial Controller will work closely with the Finance Director and provide support with the day-to-day running of the Finance department. The role will encompass Management Accounts, Financial Accounts, and Treasury Management. The successful candidate will have strong commercial acumen; they will be instrumental in the development, planning, and implementation of accounting controls and processes as well as developing and delivering relevant management information.

THE ROLE
• Preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
• Managing the month-end and balance sheet process. Ensuring the process is robust and efficient, and that balance sheet accounts are understood and balances are reconciled.
• Monthly consolidation of businesses.
• Treasury management and cashflow forecasting including forex management.
• Undertaking bank reconciliations.
• Processing of invoices and management of supplier payments.
• Intercompany recharges and monitoring reconciliations between group companies.
• Maintenance of the company's fixed asset register.
• Responsibility for stock reporting and review of provisions.
• Customer account profitability reporting and calculation of sales rebates and provisions and reporting to senior management.
• Preparation of VAT returns and Intrastat submissions.
• Supporting in the preparation of statutory accounts and liaising with Auditors.
• Assisting with the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Reviewing internal controls within the business and implementing changes where necessary.
• Proactively building relationships with managers, providing professional advice/judgement to ensure issues are highlighted and addressed.
• Carrying out ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Finance Director.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Financial Controller will have strong technical accountancy skills including management and statutory accounts and consolidations.
• Qualified Accountant (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA).
• Commercially astute.
• Thorough technical and legal understanding of statutory accounts, group consolidations, and auditing.
• Desire to work with a small exciting, fluid brand where finance can make a difference.
• Good knowledge of all government taxes (VAT, PAYE & NIC, CT)
• Finance-driven individual with an inquisitive approach, attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
• A team player with a strong, collaborative work ethic.
• Experience in developing and improving processes and controls.
