Role

This role will allow the successful candidate a unique opportunity to develop and grow their career as a Management Accountant within a large multinational business. HBS Finance operates with a small team based in the UK and a highly skilled support function based in Hungary, which is seen as an extension of the UK team. As a result of this approach HBS Finance UK are at the forefront of any new developments in Finance requested by the Hydro Group. HBS UK has been leading the way with new software implementation, and our approach has been followed by other Building Systems sites around the world. Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will be required to undertake all aspects of a Management Accountant role and take an active involvement in any projects implemented by the Hydro group, led by the UK Finance Director. This is truly an exciting time to join the finance team of HBS UK.

The role would suit a qualified accountant looking to progress their career to the next level. You must be a forward thinker, open to making changes & willing to challenge the status quo and provide business partner support, both to Finance and the wider commercial organisation. You will need to be involved in the detail, but also understand the wider business impact.

Your Responsibilities

  • Complete the monthly financial close of HBS UK using SAP and upload all the data into the group reporting tools, such as HFM.
  • Take responsibility for the year end statutory audit
  • Work with our extended finance team in Hungary to complete balance sheet reconciliations using internal group approved software
  • Review and have a good understanding of the issues facing the UK business on the topical VAT issues such as commodity codes, intrastat reporting, and any Brexit related issues
  • Work with the Duty Deferment Account and Postponed VAT accounting rules
  • Be the point of contact in the UK and work with the Hungarian team responsible for the expenses claims of all employees via the Concur expenses system
  • Deal with any HMRC related issues
  • Full overview of any outstanding invoices not yet approved in SAP to ensure that the month end accruals are made in a timely manner
  • Have full control of all fixed assets purchases, disposals and IFRS16 reporting requirements
  • Have an involvement within the business for the company car fleet + Liaise with the group treasury department to ensure compliance with treasury requirements
  • Full involvement with Group Internal Audit and compliance with the rules surrounding the Group's Internal Control Financial Reporting, including quarterly reporting
  • Liaise with the company's insurance provider and ensure compliance with internal group insurance rules
  • Mentor and help with the training of a Finance Apprentice
  • Complete monthly presentations for the business and wider Group
  • Approve of purchase invoices relating to Finance department activities that have a direct link into the Finance organisation
  • Be the point of contact for any testing required within SAP for the Finance team in the UK
  • Create new cost centres and reports with SAP
  • Identify efficiencies and innovative solutions which will streamline procedures and procedures, both within the department and across the wider business
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as required by the UK FD or wider Hydro group
