CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) CLA Search has been retained by Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District to identify a Staff Accountant to serve their team by accurately recording of transactional details, journal entries and accounting data, reconciliations, report generation, periodic closing processes, audit preparations and documentation.

What You'll Do:
  • Perform accounts receivable functions accurately and creating and issuing invoices, processing, and recording payments; resolving issues; and maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Conduct accounts payable functions accurately and contacting operational staff as needed to obtain approval and proper coding of bills received; preparing and issuing checks; and maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Track credit card purchases and ensure that proper documentation and approval are obtained and maintained.
  • Ensure that proper documentation, including W9, is maintained for all independent contractors, and produce 1099s.
  • Perform accounting and bank reconciliations to ensure that all transactions have been recorded correctly.
  • Analyze variances to budget.
  • Perform payroll and benefits administration as assigned by Controller.
  • Partner with Controller to provide accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions


What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; 2-5 years accounting experience.
  • Experience prioritizing effectively in a multi-tasking environment; enjoys new challenges and learns quickly.
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Committed to a high degree of customer service.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to produce reports and analysis on deadline.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management and project coordination skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Technically proficient; cloud-based accounting software, MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Interpersonal influence - values and nurtures relationships, effectively represents the organization in external and internal matters and relates comfortably and effectively to management.
  • Capacity to work as a team player and independent contributor.
  • Passion for the work of mdc and DID.
