Position Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis role focuses on analyzing and communicating AIChE’s overall financial performance as well as the results of its business units. He/she will work closely with teams across the organization on financial plans and ad hoc analysis and will maintain a strong understanding of AIChE’s business processes, strategies, and market dynamics. The position will have a newly-created Business Analyst role reporting to it. This is an opportunity for an innovative professional to re-evaluate our existing reporting and budgeting processes to enhance, streamline and further automate them.
Responsibilities
- Review and distribution of monthly financial results
- Periodic forecasts and annual budget
- Quarterly dashboard reporting for leadership and the Board of Directors
- Presentation materials for the Board of Directors (BOD) as well as the Executive and Finance Committees of the BOD, as required
- Identify relevant trends in financial results across AIChE
- Develop high-quality analysis in collaboration with senior leadership and their staff
- Development of interdepartmental cost allocations
- Maintenance of cost centers in reporting systems
- Maintenance of the budget system and the G/L Report Writing module
- Year-end reports for the accounting department and external auditors
- Determine responsibility split between Director and Business Analyst role

Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA required if Bachelor’s degree in another field
- Minimum 6 years of accounting or finance experience with some budget and forecasting exposure
- Prefer minimum of 2 years of experience as a people manager
- Data analytics experience is a plus
- Financial systems design, training and/or implementation experience valuable
