Senior Corporate Accountant

Thyssen Mining is a full-service underground mining contractor working predominantly in North America. Thyssen Mining is looking for an energetic and detail oriented individual to join our team in the position of Senior Corporate Accountant, located at our office in Las Vegas, NV.

Reporting to the Controller, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements for segments of our US and Canadian operations, weekly cash forecasts and assist in the research, preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns in a variety of jurisdictions.  Travel to, and liaising with, our site teams is an important part of this role. The chosen individual will need to possess working knowledge of consolidation and foreign exchange. This is a full cycle accounting position with growth opportunities as the company expands.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• CPA designation is required with 4-6 years of experience
• Preference will be given to those with experience in the mining or construction industry
• Ability to travel throughout Canada and the USA
• Must be able to comply with international travel regulations and restrictions
• Ability to adapt to fluid situations in the daily work environment
• Ability to work without immediate supervision
• Self-motivated to meet stringent deadlines
• Ability to present creative solutions in problem solving

• Financial reporting experience with private organizations
• Experience with inter-state sales & use taxes and corporate income taxes is an asset
