The Role:

You will ideally be looking for that first or second role within a finance team and be energetic with a hunger to learn within an exciting firm. Ideally, degree educated (or equivalent qualification), you will possess a good understanding of Microsoft Excel as well as the wider MS Office suite.  You will be confident communicating both over technology and in-person with internal stakeholders and colleagues as well as possessing a ‘can do’ attitude and wanting to take on more responsibility as you progress within the role.

The main purpose of this appointment is to provide data and financial analysis support to the commercial finance team in the FP&A team, to facilitate internal analysis on performance. The reports and analysis generated will be delivered to the firm's most senior stakeholders and clients so a keen eye for detail is required. The ability to work at a fast pace is therefore imperative, to ensure accuracy and meet tight reporting deadlines.

Key responsibilities:

As part of the wider finance team you will be responsible for but not limited to: 

  • Analytical support for Commercial Finance Analyst within the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team.
  • Analysis and forecasting – using available information to identify reasons for account performance and make recommendations based on this information to drive profitability of these accounts.
  • Weekly and Monthly KPI reporting.
  • Complete a large number of monthly reports within timescales agreed to a high level of accuracy.
  • Work with the Commercial Analysts to ensure quality control and best practice is developed including streamlining regular processes, reporting and analysis
  • Investigation and resolution of queries, ensuring queries are resolved in a timely manner
  • Contributing to the budgeting, planning and forecasting process
  • Collaboration with IT to generate new reporting when required, build a working strawman.
  • Testing and validating new reporting to ensure consistency, accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Make suggestions on how reports can be improved or automated, working with other analysts to make those improvements.
  • Generate ad-hoc financial reporting and models.

Skills and experience: 

  • The ideal candidate will be a graduate, and possibly studying at the beginning stages of a recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA / ACCA).
  • You will also have the knowledge and practical experience of analysing and interpreting large volume of financial data.
  • You will be computer literate, and have knowledge of management information systems (Excel to intermediate or advanced level, including basic formulas)
  • You will be ambitious, client-focused and keen to learn and able to work in a busy work environment and be able to work to strict deadlines.
  • Good team player with the desire to support and learn from the other members of the team.
