Ideal Recruit are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant to work within the Retail Properties sector. The role will be based in Blackburn.

The Role

As a Management Accountant for the Retail Sector you will mainly be dealing with shopping centres and high street retail premises. The ideal candidate for this role will be capable of running a team of up to three people along with providing training, guidance and career planning under them.

In the role of Management Accountant you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting service charge agency year end routines to prepares summary s/c year end activity records for review
  • Receiving the new budget and updating charging schedules for future invoicing
  • Work with Property Managers to ensure compliance with Auditors requirements and advise if a request will cause problems at audit
  • Follow procedures for Audit
  • Supervise Accounts Administrators to ensure they provide adequate support and service
  • Preparing monthly management accounts
  • Liaising with external accountants
  • Obtain instructions from Managers for accounting issues that arise
  • Administration of rent deposits, tenant refunds and bad debt provisions and write offs
  • Budgeting and forecasting on assets managed property and portfolios
  • Cost centre management and consolidation of accounts
  • Periodic preparation of VAT information for external clients
  • Manage charges and general interest account
  • Maintain all client bank accounts and records for audit purposes
  • Profit and Loss analysis
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Cash flow reporting
  • Managing all accounts payable and receivable transactions
  • External and internal queries that are out of the scope of the Accounts Administrators
  • Provide adequate support and training to your team
  • Maintain integrity of the General Ledger and quality of information
  • Liaise with bank client liaison officer
  • Working with Rental of approx. £20million, Assets of approx. £250million with the ability to expand up to £1billion

  • Previous experience with Management Accounts (ideally retail property)
  • Strong systems experience
  • Experience managing a team
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • A confident approach and enthusiasm in adding value to the business
  • The ability to organise their own workload and work efficiently
  • Hours of Work

  • Monday - Friday
  • 9am - 5.30pm / 6.30pm (dependant on the work load)
  • Extra hours may be required during busy periods
