Job Description

The Tax Associate will be part of our friendly London-based tax team. This person will have the opportunity to be part of a team that develops a new best in class tax function to ensure long-term optimisation of tax strategies in collaboration with the global tax strategy. The role will be supported by and have a reporting line to the VAT Manager.
The key function of the tax team includes ensuring that:
  • Company is compliant with its tax reporting obligations and
  • Provide information, advice and support to internal decision makers and external parties.

The main responsibilities of the Tax Associate will include:
  • Take ownership of the VAT/GST filings, payments and associated processes for UK&I, Europe, Africa and Australasia. This in the main includes management of the global outsourcing arrangement.
  • Assist with ad hoc enquiries from tax authorities with support from third party advisers and the VAT team.
  • Assist with tax audits by compiling requested information and documentation.
  • VAT balance sheet reconciliations (working closely with the tax accountants).
  • Support the VAT Managers with identifying, implementing and documenting process and system improvements.
  • Opportunity to drive the management of VAT/GST updates for the ERP and other relevant systems.
  • Support the Tax team on ad hoc VAT/GST matters.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in VAT/GST
  • Accounting knowledge will be beneficial but is not essential
  • Must possess superior organizational and documentation skills
  • Extremely detailed oriented/ attention to detail
  • Solid Word, Excel, PowerPoint, spreadsheet and computer knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to foster a team-oriented environment, working collaboratively with cross-functional departments
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
