About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to ensure Commerce Bank is complying with federal regulations concerning credit reporting and performing the credit disputes process.

Essential Functions
  • In-take of new direct and indirect credit bureau disputes to Bank, adding disputes to internal database for queuing and tracking
  • Manage dispute workload and track turnaround times required by federal regulation
  • Monitor resource mailbox for incoming credit bureau disputes or questions from internal customers regarding active dispute investigations
  • Assist with ensuring credit bureau dispute procedures remain current and accurate
  • Aid with researching and resolving credit bureau dispute consumer complaints received either directly from consumers or from internal customers on consumers' behalf
  • Work closely with Legal, Audit and Compliance departments to ensure that the Bank remains current with new guidelines as they are developed in this area
  • Perform duties in accordance with applicable risk policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Basic knowledge of risk management concepts, structures, and processes
  • Basic knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance, industry regulations and regulatory data sources
  • Ability to evaluate the validity of a customer's dispute against internal records, and respond timely to customers, while documenting actions taken in our internal database
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Education & Experience
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 2+ years' experience in risk management, credit underwriting, credit collections, bankcard customer service, loan servicing or security required
  • Investigations, document imaging, and credit report review experience preferred
  • E-Oscar, Shaw, TSYS, FICO Debt Manager, and Helios systems experience preferred
