Our Client is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their privately owned business. They are an extremely successful within their field which provides solutions to protect people and buildings through the design, installation and support of CCTV, intruder alarm, access control and fire alarm systems.

The company achieves sales of around £4 million annually, is profitable, growing rapidly and debt free.

We are looking for a professionally qualified and commercially astute Financial Controller to establish an in-house finance function and act as a business partner to the MD to drive profitability and growth.

Reporting to the Managing Director and business owner, but having exposure and involvement across the full spectrum of the company's operations, the successful applicant will have a self starting, sleeves rolled up attitude and be ready to immerse him/herself in the day to day financial and commercial activities of the business.

The Role

The key activities of the role are:

? Responsible for establishing an in-house finance function responsible for the day to day bookkeeping and financial administration of the company, including creditors ledger, debtors ledger and credit control, bank administration, personal expenses and payroll

? Ensuring general compliance with accounting standards and tax rules

? Responsible for preparation and interpretation of management accounts

? Responsible for forward looking activities, such as budgeting and cashflow forecasting

? Conducting day to day relationships with the company's bank and HMRC as well as being a finance contact point for suppliers and customers

? Responsible for managing the group's pensions scheme arrangements, company vehicles, insurance and other general and administrative activities

? Supporting the year-end accounts preparation and corporation tax computation processes

? Acting as right hand to MD on commercial decisions, ensuring focus on margins and profitability

? Proactive engagement where profit enhancement, process improvement and efficiency gains present themselves

? This is a full time role and will be predominantly office based

The Candidate

The successful candidate is likely to have the following attributes:

? Professionally qualified with a recognised accounting or business qualification

? At least 5 years' post qualification experience gained in the commercial sector

? Excellent PC skills and knowledge of SME accounting software packages

? Personable, approachable but with the weight of personality to hold his/her own at a senior level

? Willing to get down into detail as well as take a strategic view

? Able to work as part of a multi-disciplined team whilst having the strength of character to take tough and unpopular decisions if necessary
