Senior Investment Manager

Job Purpose

The Senior Investment Manager forms a key part of the Investment team. The individual will support all aspects of the company's M&A and financing strategy for existing and new acquisition projects and be responsible for day-to-day management of investment transactions. They will bring commercial thinking and advisory skills to the team and will build strong internal and external relationships globally.

Responsibilities

Originate and track new opportunities
  • Build and manage a network of external relationships to source new investment opportunities and drive growth

Budget Control
  • Secure and manage transaction budget within approved levels
Due diligence and investment cases:
  • Lead all Due Diligences including the coordination of internal and external resources
  • Ensure that investments are evaluated objectively and based on consistent criteria
  • Ensure that all Due Diligence and Investment Cases are of a consistent and high quality and aligned with Shareholder expectations
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure a consistent and consensual view is maintained on all investments
  • Prepare and present the documents required to secure necessary internal approvals - making recommendations to the Head of Investments and Investment Committee
Deal execution:
  • Spearhead the multilateral negotiations on all the various aspects of the transaction (commercial, legal, technical etc.) throughout the acquisition process in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders
  • Ensure that the transactions comply with approval processes
  • Support the financial structuring on new business development projects and recommend best financing strategy
  • Project manage a cross-functional team (including both internal resources and external advisors) to execute investment transactions
Knowledge sharing and effective communication
  • Develop and share knowledge and analysis in relation to relevant business models, provide market insight and maintain competitor awareness
  • Liaise closely with the Head of Investments and Business Analyst and provide input into the investment strategy discussions
  • Provide regular updates to the Head of Investments regarding new opportunities and ongoing transactions
  • Prepare and circulate regular updates of investment activities to key stakeholders in the company
  • Build and maintain a close working relationship with key stakeholders
Line management
  • Coach and develop individual team members to support career growth and the achievement of business objectives

Additional responsibilities
  • Provide commercial/financial support to other parts of the business as required
  • Liaise closely with Asset Management and Finance teams to support integration of new acquisitions into the portfolio
Skills
  • Very high level of financial modelling
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills with the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Strong analytical skills and capable of summarising complex technical issues clearly and concisely
  • Commercial awareness, with the ability to develop bid/business strategies and grasp the key commercial drivers in relation to existing assets and new transactions.
  • Innovative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong negotiation skills

Experience
  • At least 5 years' experience in M&A and financing
  • Clear understanding of project finance and M&A transactions
  • M&A execution skills and valuation modelling experience
  • In depth understanding of the UK renewable energy market

Qualifications
  • Relevant University degree and any related professional qualifications
