Join a team of experienced risk professionals and partner with our Macquarie Capital business to drive a strong risk culture. Located in London, you will report into our Capital Markets Business Operational Risk Framework Lead.

Macquarie Capital comprises the Infrastructure and Energy Group and Advisory and Capital Solutions corporate advisory, capital markets and principal transactions businesses, as well as the Cash Equities business. The diverse teams work on some of the largest and most high-profile infrastructure transactions in the world as well as executing world-class equity trading options across the capital markets, providing you with broad exposure, variety and the opportunity to apply your expertise in a truly global commercial context.

In this role, you'll work in the first line of defense to ensure that Operational Risk is managed effectively in line with our Operational Risk Management Frameworks and associated policies. Working directly with key stakeholders within our business and Risk Management Group you will play an integral part in planning and forecasting Control Assurance across the division to give senior management visibility on the effectiveness of our controls.

Your core

responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and planning of the Control Assurance (CA) program
  • Provide Line 1 assurance over critical controls for Macquarie Capital processes and oversight of principal investments, advisory and capital markets. For example, testing the appropriate controls have been implemented across:
  • Investment approval processes
  • Anti-bribery and corruption controls
  • Payment processes
  • Underwriting processes
  • Business resilience
  • Regulatory Reporting
  • Scope, develop and perform assurance reviews to ensure quality outcomes for the businessIdentify pragmatic solutions and control improvements to identified risks and issuesDevelop strong partnerships and networks with subject matter experts to perform control assurance activitiesWork closely with the Divisional Business Operational Risk teams to ensure control assurance activities are tailored, and findings are communicated and transparent to stakeholdersContribute to refinement of the control assurance framework, identifying opportunities for improvement to achieve better risk and business outcomes.

    Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal clients and other internal risk teams, will be key.

    To be successful, you'll have at least five years of working experience in internal audit, controls based external audit or similar assurance roles. Ideally, you will have design and operating effectiveness testing experience gained in the financial services sector, in-house or working with clients in a professional services environment.

    You will have the ability to think laterally, problem solve and grasp abstract concepts and complex situations. Your excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capacity to initiate and lead conversations with business leaders and risk management colleagues regarding issues and assurance findings are essential. You will be highly motivated, a self-starter and comfortable working within a dynamic, fast paced and enterprise agile environment.
