Job Advert Summary The Financial Controller will be ultimately responsible for the accounting of the various ledgers and legal entities making up the Fund Services business unit, with specific focus on South Africa. The position involves responsibility for the full accounting, transaction processing and entity administration of the financial records of Fund Services in South Africa. The incumbent would be expected to ensure the various entities' financial records are up to date, accurate and delivery of their duties is in line with Maitland Group requirements. The role thus requires a direct interface with the other finance areas as well as the heads of the relevant business operations and third parties.As a senior role player in the production of the financial outputs, the role will also involve review and implementation of processes to make sure the production of the accounting results is simple, relevant and efficient. The role will involve reporting and presentation of the financial results to the various operational heads and entity Boards.The Financial Controller will be responsible for the accounting of the assigned entities to completion.

Minimum Requirements The role has the following requirements of candidates:• A qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 year's relevant experience; Be a qualified chartered or certified accountant with at least 4 to 5 years post-qualification experience• Excellent accounting skills;• Thorough knowledge of IFRS accounting;• Experience in multi-currency, multi-company, and multi-jurisdictional accounting will be advantageous.Knowledge of Accounting principles:• Excellent computer skills, and in particular a good knowledge of: Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook email;• Windows based accounting packages, including multi-currency;• OLAP based reporting applications.• Experience in income tax, VAT and CGT administration and calculations.

Duties and Responsibilities The Financial Controller is expected to oversee and ensure their team delivers on the required accounting for each entity in the Service Group for which they are responsible.This includes the outputs, accounting and reporting deliverables relating to the service Groups:• Billing;• Collections;• Accounts Payable; • Supplier reconciliations and payments; • Cashbook Processing; • Balance Sheet Accounting; • Reporting;• Audit Support; • Forecasting; • Budgeting; • Taxation processing; • Regulatory capital calculations; • Treasury; • AFS preparation and business support; • Support for ad-hoc enquiries.In addition the Financial Controller will work with the Financial Analyst, Senior Manager and Finance Head to ensure decision making is done with appropriate financial input.The Financial Controller will review the required workload, resources and processes to ensure their team are adequately trained and supported in order to deliver on the tasks required.The incumbent will provide detailed feedback on the historic figures, identifying areas for focus and development and engage with the business to enhance its performance.
