The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Analysis is responsible for (1) the preparation and execution of external financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including all SEC filings and supporting processes; and (2) internal financial reporting, including internal budgeting, modeling, planning and analysis. Also, will prepare the consolidated financial statements and work closely with the leadership team, including the Vice President, Business Operations and Accounting, regarding financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Prepare and coordinate all external reporting activities including all SEC filings (such as quarterly and annual financial statements, proxy statements, Form 8-Ks, Section 16 filings, and XBRL) using the companies external reporting platform (Wdesk) and maintaining related supporting workpapers.
Research technical accounting matters and generating "white papers", in coordination with the Corporate Controller, including keeping abreast of changes and activities in the company and industry to ensure that their effects are properly reflected in SEC filings and other deliverables.
In coordination with the Corporate Controller, provide execution support and management of applicable portions of the Company's system of internal controls, internal audit function, and external financial statement audit process.
Assist the Chief Financial Officer and the business operations function regarding financial planning, budgeting, and analysis including the maintenance of the annual operating plan, in addition to the development and oversight of the budgeting process.
Prepare and maintain internal reports, including the accumulation of data from vendors and third parties, for the purposes of generating and tracking budgetary data and information, including tracking actuals. Identify and implement efficiencies and enhancements in data collection and presentation of information that benefit stakeholders.
Assist in financial modeling and analysis to support the development of long-term strategic initiatives and business plans. Provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise to business partners. Assist with business plan development, as needed.
Collaborate on, assist in or lead special projects, including system implementations, technical accounting research, and other accounting or business operations projects, as applicable.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with active CPA status required.
financial accounting work experience with progressively increasing responsibility including 3 to 4 years of experience in a mid to senior level financial reporting position
Demonstrated proficiency with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
Direct experience with financial statement analysis, preparation, and SEC reporting, including 10-K and 10-Q filing requirements, submission of electronic files to EDGAR, writing footnotes, and MD&A.
Experience with company-wide budgeting, forecast, modeling, analyzing financial data and information.
Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to present results in a clear, precise, and timely manner.
Ability to multi-task and manage projects effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
Demonstrated supervisory, coaching and training skills.
Strong review, analytical and documentation skills.
Master's degree in accounting or finance
Relevant work experience with small, high-growth companies
Experience with pharmaceutical or drug development companies
Proficiency in Dynamics / Great Plains
Proficiency in presenting complex financial information derived from financial statements, budgets or financial models in a simplified way to non-accountants
