Job Summary:

The Tax Manager reports directly to the Controller. This individual is responsible for performing accounting functions to support the accounting department including sales tax payable, corporate tax, accounts payable, and month-end reconciliations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform accounting functions to support Controller, CFO, and the accounting department
- Prepares monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and accrual journal entries for Sales Tax payable accounts
- Review or assist with review of corporate tax returns prepared by an outside CPA firm
- Oversee Avalara's preparation of monthly sales and use tax filings and CSC's preparation of Secretary of State filings
- Perform research as required to ensure accuracy of tax filings
- Manage and maintain Avalara database of sales tax exemption certificates
- Collaborate with the accounting team, sales reps, customer service, and customers regarding sales tax exemption certificates
- Ensure compliance with all state business sales tax, business license, and secretary of state requirements
- Communicate with states in a timely manner regarding any notices received
- Perform sales tax backfilling's, as needed
- Perform annual review of vendors and prepare all 1099 forms
- Assists in any other departments and performs any other duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements:
- 2 - 4 Years working in accounting or a similar field
- Bachelor's degree in business preferable in Accounting and/or a combination of education and experience.
- Experienced working with Avalara
- Must understand General Ledger and Journal Entries
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (VLOOKUP's, pivot tables & excel formulas)
