If selected, you will serve as a Staff Accountant in the Office of Enforcement Liaison (OEL), Division of Corporation Finance (CF).
Duties
- Respond to inquiries and consulting requests from staff in CF, Enforcement Division (ENF), and other SEC divisions and offices, as well as occasionally from external regulatory agencies, on various accounting, disclosure, and securities-related issues, CF policies, and registrant filing requirements.
- Review, analyze, and comment on ENF recommendations for enforcement actions against registrants and other persons. Engage with staff in CF, ENF, and other SEC divisions and offices, including the Office of Chief Accountant, concerning proposed ENF recommendations.
- Consult and meet with other CF accounting staff on accounting and disclosure issues raised in ENF investigations or actions.
- Advise CF staff about whether to make referrals to ENF of potential violations of the federal securities laws, coordinate and assist in drafting such referrals, coordinate with other CF accountants on matters related to ENF referrals, and independently identify and analyze issues for potential referrals.
- Assist in handling, triaging, and assessing CF-related tips, complaints and referrals received from the general public and other persons alleging accounting, disclosure, and other potential deficiencies in registrant filings and financial statements.
- Assist in resolving issues raised by Exchange Act reporting companies delinquent on their reporting obligations, including reviewing filings submitted by delinquent registrants to assess compliance with SEC requirements.
