The organisation
The Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. With around 400 staff, there are a diverse range of roles from front facing community to support and technical specialists.
The role / person
Our Commercial and Strategy Group are on the lookout for a highly-skilled Business Partner with strong financial leadership skills!
This new role will see you provide Business Units across Council with high quality management accounting, business partnering, financial information, analysis and support. Reporting to the CFO and working collaboratively with the Management Accountant - Team Leader, you will partner with unit's and act as a trusted advisor to support their operational and strategic financial goals through insightful reporting and analysis.
As a skilled accounting or financial professional, you will be an ace at developing and preparing forecasts, budgets (for Annual and Long Term Plans) and monthly and quarterly reports. When it comes to translating financial and operational information into practical commercial and business outcomes for Business Units, you will have it covered.
By way of background, you will hold a relevant tertiary commerce qualification, be CA qualified and bring five years' experience in an accounting or business environment to the role.
Our Finance Unit needs a financial partner with a collective approach when providing training, guidance and assistance to Managers across the organisation. This role will also see you contribute to the development and maintenance of relevant finance policies, ensuring our practices comply with best practice, relevant legislation and supports Council's strategies and vision.
