Summary

This position is responsible for the preparation of federal and state tax returns. Undertakes extensive self-reviews to generate a sold work product that requires limited changes upon higher level review and ensures that proper information is maintained for historical and tax audit purposes. The individual assists other Tax Accountants as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Independently prepares all US consolidated corporate income tax returns (federal and state), partnership and other related returns, including preparation of detailed workpapers supporting all tax return line items and related tax positions, all at an exceptional high level of quality with need for limited changes upon higher level review.
  • Reviews and analyzes tax books within the fixed asset system, including reconciliation of any GAAP books and tax books differences.
  • Conducts tax research & planning assignments.
  • Prepares all domestic reporting for foreign entities.
  • Prepares and computes quarterly income tax estimates.
  • Assists with optimizing state and federal business tax credits with limited guidance.
  • Assists with quarterly/annual tax provision calculations under ASC 740, as needed.
  • Assists with ASC 740.10, accounting for income tax uncertainties.
  • Work closely with accounting and other groups to obtain and validate information for income tax preparation.
  • Assists with due diligence on acquisitions.
  • Assists with tax systems integration and automation.
  • Assists in developing responses for requests related to all Federal and State audits as well as gathering necessary information.
  • Maintains general ledger balances of selected tax accounts, including performing related quarterly reconciliations.
  • Assists with documentation and implementation of tax policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Master's degree is accounting, taxation, or business administration or eligibility to become a CPA within two years of appointment highly desirable. Four (4) years experience with corporate income tax compliance.
  • Must have extensive and proven independent experience in federal consolidated returns (preparation and review) and limited experience with accounting for income taxes. Must have a multi-state tax background.
  • Must present effective oral and written communication skills. Must possess strong organizational skills and work-paper techniques. Must be a confident decision-maker able to produce accurate results with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess strong Excel and other computer skills.
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource software, including OneSource Provision, OneSource Income Tax and OneSource Workflow, and BNA Depreciation software a plus.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial reports and legal documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and other departments.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference a plus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
