The Billing Collector is primarily responsible to interact with insurance companies and patients, in an effort to collect monies for services performed should it be necessary. They secondarily assist Billing Specialists with their day to day needs. Interaction will include email, phone calls, paper/electronic correspondence, and online use of payer tools.

Summary of Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for collections of all Accounts Receivable and tracking of A/R Aging.
  • Makes calls to carriers and patients regarding the status of claims and payment if necessary.
  • Communicates effectively with carriers to submit necessary documentation for payment of claim.
  • Ensures all receivables are collected promptly and applied to customer accounts accurately.
  • Reviews status of delinquent accounts and initiate collection activity.
  • Researches and resolve disputed delinquent account balances.
  • Works with Billing Department to send out medical records and patient statements.
  • Prepares and sends Medical Record to insurance.
  • Ensures the accuracy of documents submitted.
  • Resolves issues related to incorrect billings and any disputes raised by the customer.
  • Responsible for documenting all correspondence with insurance, client, and/or insurance to record.
  • Maintains accurate customer files, keep track of name changes, address changes and mailing attention for all accounts.
  • Works closely with other departments and groups to resolve issues and exceed client service expectations.
  • Verifies insurance in a timely manner for all necessary cases.
  • Responsible for accurate billing data entry.
Required Education and Experience
  • Experience as Medical Billing Collections; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one year of healthcare billing experience preferred
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
