Our client based in Shiremoor, North Tyneside are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant. Supporting the Project Controls and Finance teams, you will be responsible for assisting with the production of all financial controls for project accounting and the production of management information.

This is a temporary contract to cover a maternity leave and is likely to be extended until September 2022. This role is offering a salary of £22,447 - £24,817 which will be paid as an hourly rate equivalent. This is a full-time post working circa 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Duties for the Accounts Assistant will include:
  • Able to learn new accounting systems quickly and be comfortable with using accounting systems to investigate queries
  • Post monthly journals
  • Project accounting - Posting transfers between projects
  • Monitoring a shared mail-box
  • Debits and Credits
  • Receiving and processing invoices and credit notes
  • Working with colleagues to reconcile monthly statements using Excel
  • Liaising with other departments during month-end to ensure information is complete and correct
  • Producing monthly payment schedules and processing these
  • Assisting senior Finance team
  • Other duties as required
Skills and Experience required for the Accounts Assistant:
  • AAT Accountancy qualification or studying towards CIMA/ACCA
  • Knowledge of the accounting month-end process
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Knowledge of General Ledger
  • Confident using Excel and other Microsoft programmes (Word, Visio, MS Project, PowerPoint)
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time efficiently to hit deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills and confidence working with senior managers
  • Comfortable working as part of a team across many functions
