The main focus of the Divisional Accountant role is to provide meaningful financial information on my client's businesses and advise business managers in order to facilitate sound, risk - assessed business decisions.

Client Details

The client, based out of Abingdon, are a growing and impressive business. They currently have a huge amount of orders and have been going through massive growth recently which they plan on continuing.


The key responsibilities of the Divisional Accountant will be:

Reporting -

  • Responsible for my client's consolidated business reporting (£40m turnover, 7 currencies)
  • Review regional results prior to close with all regional offices. Understand movements against PY, Budget and Forecast
  • Using the Group's consolidation system produce accurate monthly consolidated accounts in a timely manner
  • Produce commentary and analysis to support the monthly accounts
  • Support the monthly preparation of KPI data for management team
  • Active & regular review of the financial accounts for the overseas subsidiaries (located in USA, Germany, Korea, Japan, China and India).
  • Revenue and margin analysis reports based on product/region/segment on a monthly basis and ad hoc reports/analysis as required by the business
  • Produce weekly orders, monthly flash, review with FD prior to Group submission
  • Review local balance sheets on a monthly basis, with particular emphasis on inventory, demo stock and provisions
  • Facilitate month-end close process to ensure it is completed efficiently and accurately and without the need for weekend working

Budgeting and planning -

  • Responsible for forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes for the business including maintaining the master data model for the divisions and ensure it reconciles to the most recent actuals
  • Forecast the business cash resources
  • Liaise with Group Finance regarding FX and all Treasury matters, including completion of quarterly FX forecasts
  • Managing and driving the full budget process engaging with relevant stakeholders ensuring sufficient time for data preparation
  • Support the management team to develop the 5 year plan on an annual basis

Support -

  • Actively encourage and engage in continuous improvement activities both in the finance team and in the broader business
  • Support other regular and one-off business decisions using appropriate techniques (e.g. sensitivity analysis, investment evaluation techniques, etc.)
  • Proactively provide regular and ad hoc financial information, analysis and advice on business issues to managers
  • Coach and support managers within the business in financially-based analysis and decision making
  • Maintain effective working relationships across the business
  • Support overseas offices as required

Other -

  • Apply IT applications to drive efficiency improvements in the collection, reporting and distribution of financial information
  • Liaise with financial decision support managers in the other group businesses and at Group in order to gain the benefits of common, best practices
  • Support and integrate any new finance function post acquisition including implementing weekly/monthly reporting in line with group standards, enabling weekly and month end reporting, consolidation and ad-hoc requirements
  • Maintain professional awareness of accounting standards and the regulatory and statutory requirements applying to the business
  • Occasional overseas travel will be required
  • Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably required by the Company.


The successful Divisional Accountant will be:

Education/qualifications -

  • Graduate
  • Fully qualified accountant

Professional skills/abilities -

  • Experience of success as the management accountant in a complex, international business
  • Significant experience of consolidation, budgeting and forecasting
  • Highly developed numeracy and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Must be well-organised, precise, and possess excellent attention to detail, whilst still able to see the bigger picture
  • Demonstrable experience of working independently, cross functionally and as part of a team to achieve objectives
  • Excellent MS Office skills especially in Excel, including pivot tables and macros

Job Offer

On offer for the successful candidate will be a salary of circa £40,000 - £45,000 dependant on experience as well as an impressive benefits package.
