An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join an international life science business based in central London.

Client Details

My client is a leading international biotech & biopharmaceuticals company with associated manufacturing operations. Global turnover is within the £billions. This role sits within their sales administration office based in central London.


Reporting to the CFO, the Finance Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage all activities to set the Monthly Financial Statement
  • Creation of bank transfers for incoming invoices
  • Weekly cashflow report
  • Approval of all payments from UK and India bank account
  • Accruals/prepayments/Accounts Receivable
  • Check expenses / invoices, post invoices / expenses, set up payments, control AP
  • Contact person for customers regarding questions on invoices and payments managing blocked orders and overdue invoices or missing invoices
  • Monthly closing based on local reporting standards
  • Relate with external Finance third parties for fiscal matters, compliance with local laws and regulations, auditing.
  • All salary inputs and communication with ADP/payroll provider
  • Daily bookkeeping including posting of vendor invoices, in/out payments, custom duties) and manage the request of purchases for some departments.
  • General, ad-hoc office administration


The successful Finance Manager candidate will have the following:

  • Professional finance qualification: either ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent relevant (QBE) industry experience - minimum 5 years of general accounting
  • Good, basic double-entry bookkeeping skills
  • Knowledge of local statutory compliance desirable - ability to produce accounts up to trial balance
  • Experience within the science and research sector desirable but not essential
  • Experience with a range of finance systems highly desirable i.e. Xero & SAP would be ideal
  • Experience within small-office environments desirable
  • Ability to working independently as well as in part of a small team
  • Ability to manage senior stakeholders & tight deadlines
  • Need to be adaptable, able to handle change and willing take on a wide variety of tasks
  • Able to pick things up quickly with the ability to troubleshoot problems

Job Offer

Basic salary of circa £50,000 to £60,000
