Job Title - Bookkeeper
Location - South Ormsby, Lincolnshire
Salary - Competitive
Hours of work: 35 hours per week
The village of South Ormsby is an estate of c3000 acres nestled within the Lincolnshire Wolds and is an area of outstanding natural beauty, rich in wildlife.
The custodians of the South Ormsby Estate are restoring the heritage of the estate and rejuvenating the local economy. Building upon a historic past and using the latest technology their vision is to create the best place to invest, work, live, play and retire to. In short, the aim is to create the best farming estate in the world. We are passionate about conservation and we're enhancing habitats for the estate's wide range of species through carefully designed developments and an estate-wide biodiversity plan.
Renewable energy, water conservation and energy efficiency schemes will be implemented, and our plans will see tens of thousands of trees and hedges planted across the estate.
Bookkeeper - The Role:
Our office is in the beautiful countryside of South Ormsby. Working from home but visiting the office regularly to collect certain aspects of the work. You will manage the sales and purchase ledger, sub-contractor and wage payments, VAT returns and month end duties.
Bookkeeper - Duties and
Responsibilities:
Daily tasks
- Monitoring purchase orders and the approval process including issuing orders to suppliers
- Checking receipt of goods / confirmation of services delivered in line with approved purchase orders
- Processing of purchase invoices
- Maintenance of supplier ledgers including reconciliation to supplier statements
- Bank transactional level postings and reconciliation to statements
- Liaising with internal staff, customers and external third parties on a regular basis as applicable
- Recording sales income and e-commerce transactions
- Capturing transactional level data for the property business and liaising with the Estate manager regarding the same
- Using Landmark, Sage 50 and Sage Business Cloud Accounting software packages or such other software as the business from time to time may use
Weekly tasks
- Processing of sales invoices including recharge invoices to related party businesses
- Monitoring customer and supplier balances
- Supplier payments and remittances
- Credit control including preparation and dispatch of debtor statements; and assisting with cash flow monitoring
Monthly tasks
- Compiling and working with the Estate manager regarding staff payroll details
- Posting wages journals to accounts system
- Performing bank reconciliation process for all active bank accounts
- Ensure all accounts transactions posted to the system including review of trial balance, and provide assistance/information to accountants in respect of monthly management accounts
- Monitoring of intercompany balances and posting any adjustments as necessary to the relevant accounting system
- Posting monthly journal adjustments as required
- Remittances for PAYE and other taxes
Quarterly tasks
- Preparation of VAT returns to be reviewed by the accountants prior to submission to HM Revenue and Customs
Annual tasks
- Liaise with and provide assistance to accountants in respect of preparation Annual Financial Statements
Bookkeeper - Person Specification:
- Track record of managing budgets and achieving targets
- Must have solid experience of working in an accounts department
- The ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure
- Approachable and friendly
