Title: Accounting Assistant
Location: Birmingham, AL
Salary: $43,000 - $46,000

About this position: We have been retained by a prestigious, Fortune 100 financial services organization to provide outsourced accounting services to its Controllership organization. The team will support an ongoing initiative to bring accounting operations back to US soil. We are looking for motivated, collaborative, and process focused accountants to help us.


Responsibilities:

• Full Cycle operational accounting (loan accounting, treasury accounting, cash forecasting, control execution, financial reporting, forecasting, etc.)
• Managing and executing the daily operations of the accounting department
• Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports or statements
• Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
• Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Prepare weekly and monthly cash forecasts
• Prepare journal entries on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
• Identify and research financial reporting issues and conduct variance reporting and investigation
• Reconcile Intercompany Accounts for various operating entities
• Participate in the general ledger, fixed assets, collections, accounts payable and cash management areas

Requirements:

• Associates degree in accounting or finance or work experience that demonstrates an equivalent level of proficiency
• Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically in Excel (mid-level preferred) and/or the Google Suite (Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Slides, etc.)
• Experience in banking, lending, deposits, capital markets, treasury, and/or financial services a plus.
• Ability to learn new technology quickly (PeopleSoft and/or Hyperion experience preferred).
• Clear understanding of General Ledger concepts.
