Appointment Type: Full Time

Purpose of Position:

The Joseph W. Luter, III School of Business at Christopher Newport University invites applications for the position of Lecturer or Instructor in Accounting, effective August 2022. Applicants must be committed to creative and effective teaching and learning, demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and learning and engage with the business community. Applicants from all areas of accounting will be considered. The nominal teaching load for a non-tenure-track appointment is 4-4. 

Preference will be given to candidates with experience with and/or knowledge of data analytics. Preference will also be given to applicants holding professional designations (CPA, CISA, CFE) or having had experience with a national and/or large regional accounting firm.

A Master’s degree in Accounting/Business related field or certification in public accounting (CPA) with significant industry experience is required for appointment at the rank of Instructor. Candidates with the Doctorate in Accounting, or a closely related field are also encouraged to apply, and would be considered for appointment at the rank of Lecturer. 

Departmental Information:

The Luter School of Business at CNU is composed of 24 faculty and offers four majors (Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing). The Luter School’s AACSB-accredited business curriculum requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 for entry and attracts some of the University’s best students. The business program offers opportunities for internships, executive mentorships, international experiences, volunteer work, and research collaboration with faculty. The School launched a new Master of Financial Analysis (MFinA) program in Fall 2020.
