Job Details

The Assistant Management Accountant role will provide management accounting support to a publicly funded performing arts company in the City of London. The successful candidate will assist management in Financial Planning & Analysis to provide quality financial reporting to stakeholders.

Client Details

Our client is a well established and prominent publicly funded performing arts company in the City of London. They are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant on a Permanent basis.

Description

The role of Assistant Management Accountant, based in Central London will involve;

Management Reporting;

  • To work with the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to monitor, analyse,
    and report on actuals, budgets and forecasts.
  • To support daily, weekly and monthly reporting activities and ensure that information is presented in a meaningful, transparent, and timely manner.
  • Relevant activities can range from preparing weekly income reports, recharging
    costs, liaising with our central accounts team, reviewing activity.
    purchasing system and maintaining the department's non-financial data.
  • To assist operations teams in monitoring income and expenditure to ensure
    budgets are met or targets achieved. A key process of this is ensuring
    variances to forecast or budget are thoroughly investigated in a timely manner.
  • To be involved, as appropriate, in operations team and Finance Department
    special projects, annual budget setting, monthly forecasting, finance systems
    and process improvements, modelling work, and any other general
    requirements.

Financial Accounting:

  • To be responsible for the month and year end processes for departmental
    budgets, including the posting of accurate accruals, prepayments and deferred
    income; and to reconcile and provide commentary on any variances to budget
    and forecast.
  • To assist the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in year-end statutory
    accounts reporting.
  • To assist in the calculation of relevant Theatre/Film tax credits.
  • To assist the financial accountants with relevant balance sheet reconciliations,
    ensuring postings are clear and understood by all, and balances substantiated.
  • To become a 'super user' of the organisation's financial reporting tools and
    purchasing systems, providing support to other users as required.

Profile

  • The post holder must be part qualified in a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and should be actively studying toward completion.
  • Excellent numeracy and Microsoft Excel skills. Must be confident in manipulating data in spreadsheets and using those to present financial analysis in a clear and concise manner.
  • Management accounting experience within either a commercial or not for profit organisation including month end reporting, forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis is highly beneficial.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in the arts/theatre sector.
  • Previous experience working in a finance department.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage conflicting stakeholder priorities.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills both face to face and over digital media. Able to present financial information in a clear and understandable manner to non finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively within and between teams to achieve common objectives.
  • Inquisitive and determined to solve problems and provide appropriate action and solutions.
  • Proactive and willingness to take ownership and achieve outstanding standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Investigative skills to gather data and information to enable an effective solution to be found.
  • Able to identify potential opportunities to proactively enhance efficiency and/or effectiveness and introduce new ways of working and innovation within own area of work.
