Responsibilities:
Essential Functions-
Ability to quickly learn and become highly proficient with new Accounting Systems and Software Functionality, as well as ability to efficiently and effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to efficiently and effectively use and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Corporate Accounting Functions-
Enter month-end journal entries covering various areas such as insurance, taxes, interest/loan payments, depreciation/amortization, accruals/deferrals, and other aspects of the balance sheet and income statement
Prepare month-end financial packages for assigned entities and properties
Ensure all balances presented on financial statements are accurate, valid and correctly classified
Perform analysis of balance sheet accounts, prepare reconciliations and provide supporting documents confirming accuracy and validity of account balances
Review revenue and expense GL accounts and perform variance analysis against budget/prior period's results to determine gaps, errors and inconsistencies
Assist in preparing financial packages for quarterly and year-end audit engagements and work with auditors as needed
Assist in creating and documenting various accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Accounts Receivable / Payable Responsibilities-
Coordinate and supervise Staff Accountants and/or Accounts Receivable/Payable staff to ensure proper accounting for AR/AP, to include the accuracy of the subledgers, and helping resolve issues with the staff as needed
Ensure invoices are prepared for clients and that expenses are properly managed with vendors, and assist the accounting staff as needed with issues as they arise
Banking Responsibilities-
Ensure that banking responsibilities are properly managed by the staff, to include being familiar with the payment processing, deposits, transfers, various websites, and other responsibilities as needed
Other Finance Functions-
Perform analysis and create ad hoc reports as requested by management
Assist in preparing annual budgets and operating expense reconciliations/estimates
Provide support for quarterly, interim and year-end audit engagements
Support GL upgrades, improvements and implementations
Education/Training:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance Required
CPA Certification or Eligibility Preferred
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of work experience
Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
Skills/Competencies:
Excel Experience, including high proficiency with pivot tables, lookups, overall model design, and ability to learn other complex formulas and functionalities as needed
Construction and/or Real Estate experience highly preferred
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressure
Ability to adapt to processes and deal with ambiguity
Clear, effective oral and written communication skills are required
A highly collaborative team player. Comfortable working across department lines with people at all levels in the organization
Must be flexible. Experience working for or with rapidly growing organizations is a plus
Ability to think "outside-the -box" and demonstrate creative sourcing strategies
Positive & upbeat, can-do attitude!
