Defra Group Finance have a G7 Leadership role in Compliance and Financial Accounting. The roles support delivery high quality robust service to the whole of Defra Group Finance and departmental group. You will provide strategic oversight to key financial matters that affect delivery, through process ownership of Procure to Pay, Expenses and GPC across the Defra Group and associated compliance activity. Management of a specialist claims handling service.

They are key in supporting the improvement of the financial controls across the business and driving efficiencies through self-service and automation. They ensure the provision of a quality service to the business by managing a range of complex relationships working internally and with external partners to deliver successful outcomes. The primary role during this time is to manage the above workload across teams supporting those resources released as part of the ‘Next Wave Programme’.

The Next Wave Programme is a Government Major Project delivering an enterprise wide move to move to standard services, common processes, improved data, working practices across corporate services and to effectively manage the transformation needed across Defra Group. A fundamental part of the programme is the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (and Business Process Outsourcing Services. This work links closely to cross-Government Global Process Design principles and Civil Service interoperability.
