About the Role | Kōrero mō te tūranga
Use your data wrangling skills and inquisitiveness to provide performance measurement reporting
We have an exciting and challenging role in MPI's New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit.
The 6-month fixed term Business Analyst role provides:

* support to ensure our strategic planning responsibilities are met
* timely analysis reporting through static and interactive dashboarding
* performance measurement and supporting initiative delivery and design
* You will be taking the data from our reporting and be able to deep dive to understand the story the data is telling us

The role sits within the Planning Team which is one of two functional teams sitting within our Planning, Oversight and Performance team. You will be working within a team to deliver business analysis services and you will have the opportunity to work on new and interesting projects.
Please note this is not an IT analyst role
Mōu - About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role, preferably within the public sector.

* Strategic and innovative thinking to help drive change across the breadth of the organisation.

* Knowledge and experience in non-financial performance measurement design, and system thinking ability
* Confident analytical and reporting skills
* Confident relationship management skills, with experience in building credible and effective working relationships with senior leaders, technical specialists, and peers.
* Excellent listening, written and communication skills, focusing on what the audience needs to know and supporting decision making.
* Strong Excel experience is needed to hit the ground running

Along with the above experience you will enjoy working in a collaborative and forward-thinking way and can build strong relationships with a variety of people, be results focused, and be able to work in a fast moving, agile environment.
The salary for this role is General Salary range F from $66,111 to $77,778 per annum. Starting salary will be dependent on the successful candidates' skills and experience.
About our Team | Mō tō mātou rōpū
The Planning, Oversight & Performance Team are a business unit shared service that plans, develops, measures, reports and improves the process and procedures across the system for New Zealand Food Safety and the wider Ministry. We ensure the activities of the business unit are clearly aligned to the Ministry's strategy and core delivery systems and provide thought leadership for the business.
