Summary: The Jr Accountant will assist the Senior Accountant with financial aspects of all hotels managed by Pathfinder Development. The accountant will prepare and examine financial records to ensure accuracy and that vendors and taxes are paid. The accountant will maintain the payroll system and process payroll. This position will also report to the Director of HR.

Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

  • Process Accounts Payable, including writing bills, printing checks, etc.
  • Maintain Accounts Receivables, including collecting and entering W-9 forms.
  • Code invoices for all hotels managed by Pathfinder Development.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
  • Reconcile deposits, credit cards, and bank accounts.
  • File occupancy tax forms for all hotels managed by Pathfinder Development on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
  • Reconcile IRA quarterly matching.
  • Reconcile wage garnishments.
  • Benefit deductions and reconciliation.
  • Maintain payroll systems including employee demographics, processing payroll, bonuses, and pay rate adjustments.
  • Prepare comparison reports for Senior Accountant to assist with P&L prep.
  • Assist Senior Accountant with month end procedures.
  • Report any discrepancies or variances to the Senior Accountant.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
  • Work toward continuous quality improvement.
  • Stay current with changing technology, including software programs.

Education/Experience:
  • Not required but welcome a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks experience preferred.


Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
