Role Purpose

Directly reporting to the President & CEO, the Chief of Staff will play a critical role in aligning all stakeholders around the company's vision and strategy and enhancing the reputation and thought leadership position of COMPANY Impact Finance (FIF). The Chief of Staff will be responsible for ensuring that the company's vision, strategy, goals and priorities are accurately relayed, well understood and operationally executed at all levels of the FIF network.

The role collaborates with the FIF Management Team, Executive Management Committee, and key department leaders in drafting, communicating, aligning and delivering on strategy and top priorities. The person in this position clearly and concisely communicates-and ensures that stakeholders at all levels of the network understand-the mandate for continuous improvement and the urgency to achieve a "Tech-Touch" business model transformation, while still maintaining our mission-driven and unique company culture. In short: The Chief of Staff ensures the network's wheels are steered in the same direction with constant alignment to the FIF's values of Warmth, Trust and Responsible Banking.

The Chief of Staff will work closely with the CEO to understand Board, Executive Management Committee (EMC) and Management Team decisions, with the dual purpose of ensuring that decisions made are accurately communicated and efficiently executed on, and for the Chief of Staff to gain intimate exposure to and learn from executive leadership decision-making processes and management practices.

Accountabilities

The Chief of Staff's essential responsibilities include the following:
  • Manage creation of stakeholder materials-including, but not limited to, the Board of Directors, Shareholders, investors, lenders and other external stakeholders-including quarterly updates and other information and communication needed on ad hoc basis, delegating information requests to appropriate internal teams and ensuring they are executed as needed;
  • Ensure alignment in communication and execution of company strategy. Responsible for dissemination of strategy and key initiatives to the appropriate stakeholders in a standardized way to guarantee timely delivery and implementation. Collaborate with department heads to ensure consistent messaging across all departments and oversee FIF's global communications team. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, development of global and regional meeting agendas, messaging for All Staff meetings and written internal communications, staff trainings and orientations, strategy retreats, etc;
  • Collaborate with the EMC, Management Team, and Subsidiary Leadership on strategic planning processes and business critical projects. Work closely and collaborate with leadership at all levels of the network on strategic and operational planning and the development of strategic implementation roadmaps for FIF's changing business model;
  • Conduct Strategic Analysis. Work closely with the CEO and other stakeholders as assigned to conduct discrete analyses of critical issues led by the CEO office (such as organizational structure reviews) that are critical path to the success of the network;
  • Support external engagement and representation of FIF among industry leaders. Attend industry events and networking opportunities, as appropriate, to promote FIF's work in the financial inclusion, responsible banking and fintech spheres. Keep current on industry developments and conferences. Support communications team with engagement in and applications for speaking positions for global and subsidiary leadership at key events to further promote FIF;
  • Oversee organization of Management Team logistics. Partner with CEO on developing agendas for management meetings to prioritize most critical topics. Capture meeting minutes and action items from management meetings and follow up appropriately with key stakeholders to ensure work is executed;
  • Oversee policy management. Guarantee alignment of FIF network policies and, as needed, facilitate and assist with the development of new policies in collaboration with subject matter and functional experts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • Graduate degree (MA or MBA) in marketing, communications, business, or similar.

Experience
  • Minimum 8 years, including demonstrable experience managing strategy and communications in financial services or international development;
  • Proven experience working with senior leadership and board directors;
  • Experience working internationally, especially in developing countries;
  • Experience working in a large international organization or network is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Familiarly with financial services and/or international development;
  • Superior communication skills, both written and interpersonal; Ability to distil and convey information in a compelling manner;
  • Analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information;
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments; Excellent judgement and diplomacy and use of discretion and confidentiality;
  • Experience with planning and preparation of talking points and external speaking engagements for executive leadership.

Language Skills
  • Fluency in English is required.

Travel Requirements
  • Availability to travel up to 15% of the time.
