Our client, headquartered in Stamford, has been in business for over 25 years! They are currently looking to bring on a Junior Accountant to join their team ASAP due to increased workload/growth. The Junior Accountant will be responsible for performing accounts payable and cash reporting, as well as helping with month-end closing responsibilities, including but not limited to, accrual and prepayment journal entries, reconciliations, and account research and analysis.Additional responsibilities include:
Account payable and Outsourcing Vendor Management
Obtain approvals for A&CP and G&A invoices that are received and process for AP
Process Intercompany inventory purchase invoices and biweekly IC balance reconciliation
Review the weekly data files from TTC and upload weekly to SAP; monitor the exception portal at TTC and clear on timely basis.
Run weekly payment in SAP, obtain approval from Controller and submit to Mars Treasury
Monitor vendor accounts to ensure payments are up-to-date for month-end closing. Respond to vendor and employee inquiries.
Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies.
Daily bank with TB daily
Update weekly cash flow forecast sheet
Month-end closing
Monthly review T&E in Concur reports for policy compliance and appropriate booking. Reconciliation with JP Morgan credit card statement. Upload the file to SAP
Review and actualize marketing & trade expenses (i.e., demos and advertising) against the budget. Calculate accrual and record in SAP
Costco Demo accrual calculation
Broker commission calculation and accrual.
Benefit journal entry (biweekly)
Inventory reconciliation and Aging analysis
Final IC reconciliation
Prepare overhead report and distribute to M-com and Office Manager
Balance Sheet reconciliation
Prepare all of the balance sheet reconciliation in Blackline
Requirements for Junior Accountant role:
Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office; Strong excel skill is important; SAP, Power BI and Concur a plus
At least one year of experience in accounting
Undergraduate degree ideally in accounting
Strong research and analytical skills
Ability to multitask in a first paced environment
Organized, detail-oriented
Team-player including attention to details
Good communication skills
