Forestar Group Inc. is a residential lot development company and a majority-owned subsidiary of D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder by volume in the United States since 2002.

Forestar Group is currently looking for an Operations Asset Specialist I (Accounting Support). The right candidate will provide centralized support to Project and Investment Managers and coordinate closely with related analysts to assist with properly budgeting, accounting for and processing real estate acquisitions, development contracts and lot closings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Analyze and understand real estate development and property operation for the projects assigned
• Research, collect and review data on properties as needed including title policies, deeds, tax records, environmental reports and HOA by-laws and covenants
• Participate in contract administration including setting up and maintaining standardized files and purchase orders in JDE
• Request and verify draws and funding requests
• Generate data entry of project information and assist in maintaining lot detail information
• Secure and maintain filing of required documents for acquisition, development and management of assigned project
• Prepare check requests for various permits, fees and other acquisition or development related services
• Process documentation for lot and sale closings
• Participate in property tax management
• Ability to work overtime
• Regular and reliable attendance
• Assist vendors
• Coordinate with related analyst to ensure that contract and direct pay invoices are coded accurately and as budgeted
• Provide assistance regarding HOA issues
• Assist in property operation functions as assigned by the Asset Manager

Job Requirements:

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma
  • Accounting background and/or basic accounting skills necessary
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral form or via Forestar applications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and email
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color vision and peripheral vision.
  • JDE experience and/or the ability to learn and adapt to new software applications with direction and training
