Client Details
Leading East Sussex based College with an impressive track record is looking to recruit a Director of Finance on a Part Time basis working 3 days per week.
The successful applicant will be expected to be responsible for all financial arrangements, of the College, its subsidiaries and associated organisations and ensure they meet statutory, regulatory and auditing requirements. To liaise with colleagues and external bodies to ensure that internal controls, systems, processes and business practices accurately reflect the activities of the College. To ensure that the financial analysis and reporting is maintained and developed to reflect best practice in the sector. To be responsible for corporate risk identification, evaluation and management processes. To support to the development of a commercially-focused financial strategy, the management of assets and resources, and business planning.
Description
Strategic management of the finances of the College
The Provision of strategic financial advice and information to the Principal, the Corporation and the Senior Leadership Team
Effective Management of the Finance Team and the day-to-day financial operations of the College
Overall responsibility for financial systems within the college
Provision of monthly financial accounts and management reports to the Senior Leadership Team
Management of the College's cashflow bank covenants, capital borrowing facilities and make treasury management recommendations to Principal.
Production of the statutory annual Financial Statements of the Corporation within required deadlines
Production, for approval by the Corporation, of Financial Forecasts in accordance with the requirements of the funding bodies and in consultation with the Principal, Senior Leadership Team and Budget Holders.
Support and advise the Principal and Property Manager in the preparation of capital project bids to include investment appraisals and related financial information.
Act as the college's internal financial advisor for both routine and major capital projects, advising on the financing of any projects to ensure effective delivery, securing external advice when needed, and liaising with college bankers, solicitors, property consultants etc. as required.
Production, in liaison with the Principal and Property Manager, of Capital budgets and cashflows, for approval by the Corporation .
Monitoring and reporting of the financial performance of Capital Schemes to Senior Leadership Team, the Corporation and the Funding Bodies as appropriate
To be responsible for all VAT, PAYE, Corporation tax and other related tax matters for the College
To lead on the budget setting and monitoring processes and the generation of the five year financial plan within the planning cycle, ensuring that it delivers financial targets and incorporates all activities the organisation is, or is planning to be, involved in
Budgetary control, including production of Budget Monitoring reports to all budget holders, and liaison with all staff on financial matters
Liaison as required with the Funding Agencies and review of funding allocations in liaison with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team
Advising the Corporation, with the Principal, on the appointment of Bankers, Auditors, Payroll Agents and any other financial agencies that may from time to time be appointed.
Coordinate, in liaison with the Principal, the external and internal audit (if used) process.
Profile
CCAB Qualified Accountant (e.g. CIPFA, ACA, ICMA)
Degree or equivalent
Experience in Finance at a strategic level in a multi-functional role
Experience of working as a member of a senior management team
Thorough knowledge of current relevant financial legislation and regulations
Understanding of Audit functions and requirements
Ability to produce clear written reports at strategic and management levels
To be able to work with staff, students and other stakeholders to find and agree solutions
