Our client operates a commercial hazelnut operation located in Narrandera, Southwest NSW. With over 60 staff, the orchard comprises close to one million hazelnut trees on 2000 hectares and plays a key role in providing employment opportunities to the local community. As an entity, they employ over 300 people across Australia and New Zealand and have a been part of Australia's community for 40 years.

The Role

As Financial Controller you will provide key support to the Chief Financial Officer. Assisting with the budgeting and forecasting process from start to finish, you will track the performance of the company through the year comparing actual to budget/forecast and explaining variances.

Performing analysis on various costs across the business, you will work with internal departments, assisting them to improve their business decisions by preparing and delivering clear reporting and analysis.

The Financial Controller prepares and reports the monthly trends and assists with reporting them to the HCO and Corporate reporting at Head Office in Luxembourg. The role will also ssist in the preparation of the profit and loss balance sheet and cash flow while supporting the Chief Financial Officer in the overall master data management relating to the company.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:
  • Preparation of budgets, forecasts and strategic plans
  • Perform routine analysis on financial statements
  • Ensure adherence to official reporting deadlines
  • Costing and pricing control
  • Provide sound database management and ensure integrity of data within reporting function systems
  • Review inventory movements to ensure adherence to company policy in regard to chemicals, fertilisers, spare parts, irrigation parts, fuel and investigation of discrepancies
  • Perform ongoing valuation of the inventory (stock and consumed) to report correctly on variances due quantity and price differences
  • Internal controls
  • Continually review processes used within the company and provide recommendations for improvement to ensure integrity of financial data
  • Develop and distribute official written procedure manuals
  • Assist with the preparation of regulatory reports in compliance with regulations and instructions
  • Analysing data and invoice checking
  • Review and maintain master data in relation to materials and assets, customer and vendor, cost centres, internal orders and chart of accounts

Skills & Experience

With proven financial experience, this role is ideally suited to someone with qualifications in accounting or proven experience in financial business activities.

Flexible with exceptional problem-solving capabilities, you are an excellent communicator who can apply your analytical skills well.
