Position Summary

Under direction, assists in accounting and financial activities of the Cooperative. Supports Accounting department with daily general ledger entries and monthly closings, quarterly and annual regulatory and financial reporting, compiling annual budget and preparation of tax returns.

Working Conditions

General office and sedentary, requiring extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Ability to exert a light degree of physical effort including carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking and the assisted lifting of objects and materials up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and distance vision. Limited exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, odors, humidity, temperature and noise extremes, wetness and vibrations. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to reach, bend, and use 2-step stool while safely lifting and lowering boxes. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions

Prepares journal entries for monthly postings.

Assists with daily general ledger entries and monthly closings.

Manages operating and capital budget.

Responsible for CWIP ledger and accounting for fixed assets.

Reviews accounting transactions for associated mining contractor.

Prepares state and federal payroll reports.

Assists in preparing monthly financial reports.

Prepares routine regulatory, state and federal reports.

Approves supporting documentation for cash disbursements.

Performs cash management functions.

Coordinates and assists with the development of the financial analysis strategy.

Assists with on-going property and liability insurance issues.

Assists with ad valorem tax issues.

Assists the Accounting Manager with projects as they arise.

Cross trains, as needed, to assist with Accounting Manager duties in the event of absence.

  • Performing monthly management financial reporting
  • End close and financial reporting
  • Review internal monthly financial statements
  • Streamline the financial reporting process
  • Prepare the financial reporting for external audit
  • Perform all ad hoc financial reporting requests
  • Perform monthly accounting analysis and reporting
  • Perform general accounting and financial reporting functions for management and external reporting needs
  • Ensure financial recordkeeping and reporting
  • Ensure accurate reporting of financial information
  • Improve financial reporting schedules and documentation
  • Prepare internal monthly financial reports
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly balance sheet analysis
  • Support various areas of external reporting, including financial reporting to support debt offerings and quarterly external financial statements
  • Prepare monthly management reporting packages
  • Use general ledger accounting and reporting software to prepare monthly financial statements and other management reports
  • Develop and/or update monthly reporting schedules for financial reporting and internal use
  • Providing analytics, analysis and meeting financial reporting requirements including preparing the monthly internal financial reporting and the external financial statements filed with the SEC
  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and preparing annual financial statements
  • Prepare certain consolidation and reporting journal entries
