Summary of Role

Assist in the development, communication and implementation of standards, guidance, and training material for the AICPA Peer Review Program with the goal of enhancing the quality of accounting, auditing and attestation engagements performed by public accounting member firms.

 

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

·      Maintain in-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of the AICPA Peer Review Program (Program) and an understanding of the administrative processes.

·      Provide guidance and assistance to the State CPA Society peer review committees, peer reviewers and firms on peer review issues, which may include issues related to GAAP, GAAS, SQCS and other standards.

·      Serve as liaison to the AICPA Peer Review Board’s  advisory task forces and committees responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Program strategic plans. Assist in the developing meeting materials and providing research and project assistance.

·      Work closely with peer reviewers and firms in identifying and resolving questions and issues, including firm non-cooperation and reviewer performance issues.

·      Develop standards and  guidance, including checklists, related to peer review.

·      Perform peer review working paper technical reviews and oversights.

·      Keep apprised of new standards and services being developed by other AICPA teams and outside the AICPA and determine the impact on the Program. This includes but is not limited to the activities of the ASB, ARSC, ASEC,, FASB, FinREC, GASB, GAO, DOL, IASB, IAASB, PEEC, SEC and PCAOB. Share this information with the other members of the team on a timely basis.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

·      Strong working knowledge of GAAP, GAAS and quality control standards

·      Ability to deal effectively and efficiently with partners and managers of public accounting firms

·      Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills

·      Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills

·      Capable of dealing effectively and efficiently with a diverse group of individuals and assignments

·      Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects

·      Member service oriented

·      Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently

·      Demonstrated project management skills and organizational abilities with an eye for detail

·      Ability to travel on occasion

 

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education

·      CPA designation

·      Minimum 5 years current public accounting experience

·      Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field

 

Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education

·      Preferred experience with ERISA and Uniform Guidance engagements
