Assistant Finance Manager with strong Leadership & Consultation skills required to join NSW State Government, ASAP Start

  • $45 -$52 per hour + Super, depending on experience | 35hours per week
  • NSW State Government | Coffs Harbour or Parramatta Location
  • ASAP Start | Estimated 6-month temp assignment, potential to extend


Our NSW State Government client provides support to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, delivery and support services. They are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Manager to join their team in Coffs Harbour or Parramatta. This is an estimated 6-month temporary assignment, with a potential to extend.

As the Assistant Finance Manager, you will be required assist the delivery of budgets, forecasts, financial analysis of performance and reporting of commercial business position to inform Senior Management of financial performance and associated risk

In this rewarding role, you will be undertaking the following duties:
  • Track and monitor client projects, business unit expenditure and revenues
  • Carry out client billings and managing accounts receivables to maximise cash flow
  • Create project set up including resourcing, sales orders, SAP budgets and training for employees
  • Establish GC21, MW21 and MMW Contracts into the system
  • Process contract valuations and variations
  • Journal entries and reconciliations
  • Review and analyse project performance through comparisons against budget and performance measures
  • Complete project performance reporting and monthly WIP review processes
  • Identify trends and issues, mitigating associated risks
  • Generate revenue and expenditure reporting along with budget forecasts
  • Preparation of Year-End Financial accounts required by Auditors for the business unit
  • Establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, facilitating partnerships, collaboration, engagement and contribution of ideas
  • Ensure compliance with best practice and legislative requirements


To be successful in this great assignment you will have the following:
  • Qualifications in Accounting or an equivalent field
  • Membership with Accounting Body highly desirable
  • Minimum 3-5years Management Accounting experience
  • Project Accounting skills in a consulting business
  • Demonstrated People Leadership skills
  • Solid analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite, Power BI and SAP
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Impeccable interpersonal and communication skills
  • Superior organisational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
  • High attention to detail
  • Willingness to undertake a National Police Check
  • Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
