What we are looking for:

The primary role of the Management Accountant is to own MoneyMe’s corporate financial forecasting and projection modelling, maintain MoneyMe’s regular business performance reporting and provide insights to help the business optimise for sustainable robust returns. Reporting directly to the CFO, the role holder will work closely with all areas within the business as one of three direct reports to the CFO, alongside the Treasurer and Financial Controller roles.

This is a newly created permanent position in our finance team with the potential to be based in our Sydney office in Macquarie Street, opposite the Botanical Gardens and within walking distance to Circular Quay and Martin Place, or at our Newcastle office, right next to bustling Darby Street in the Newcastle CBD.

Responsibilities for this position include:

Financial Projection & Forecast Modelling

  • Own the Group’s financial projection & forecasting model
  • Create 3 year financial projections
  • Develop income statement, balance sheet and cashflow statement projections
  • Create base, upside and downside scenario projection and performance measure projections
  • Update the planning & forecasting model with the latest actuals and key input assumptions.
  • Develop and update the model to reflect new business & product plans, strategies and growth initiatives and make it more efficient and effective over time.
  • Run model back testing to compare actual results to projected results and update the model to improve its robustness and accuracy in reference to the back testing results.
  • Maintenance of robust model controls with simple and clear audit trails.
  • Documentation development that allows others to understand, run and use the model.
  • Complete model based reporting and present to key stakeholders.
  • Train others to ensure that the model can be run by at least one other person at any time.
  • Review and lead transition of the models to a system (from excel) as appropriate.

Business Performance Reporting

  • Owning the business’s standard suite of business performance reporting
  • Monthly Financial Snapshots.
  • Quarterly Business Performance Update.
  • Key Risk Indicator Scorecards.
  • Competitor benchmarking.
  • Monthly Operational Performance Reporting.
  • Partnering with the Decision Intelligence and Financial Control teams in particular to automate and improve the quality and timeliness of standard business performance reporting.
  • Owning business performance information to support effective investor reporting and partnering to support high quality and timely investor reporting.
  • Implementing and maintaining fit for purpose management reporting technology.
  • Building a close working partnership with internal stakeholders to ensure that business performance drivers and impacts are appropriately considered and managed as the business grows at pace.
  • Support the Financial Control area to review and complete Expected Credit Loss model and Effective Interest Rate model related reporting.

To be successful in this role you must have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar qualification.
  • CA/CPA/CIMA qualification (CIMA preferred).
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry including significant experience with consumer lending businesses (banks or non-banks) and securitisation funding arrangements.
  • Advanced MS Excel modelling skills.
  • Experience in working with large volumes of data to interrogate and manipulate information to deliver insight
  • Experience of financial reporting and tax related reporting at a senior Finance management team to Audit Committee level, ideally from a listed environment.
  • Familiarity and preferably experience in using new or proven technologies to improve the way financial forecasting and management reporting processes work, from General Ledgers such as Netsuite to performance reporting solutions such as TM1, Hyperion or Adaptive Insights.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including good report writing skills.
  • An ability to work autonomously in an unstructured environment and be adaptable and versatile across a broad range of initiatives and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to partner and influence effectively to achieve fantastic business outcomes
