We are looking for a dedicated professional to take up the exciting and challenging full-time role of Senior Management Accountant PCYC Head Office!
The Western Australian Police and Community Youth Centres (Inc.) (WA PCYC) is looking for a dedicated and passionate professional to take up the exciting and challenging role of Senior Management Accountant at WA PCYC Head Office. This position is a 12 month Fixed-term contract, with full-time hours (37.5 hours) per week.

WA PCYC is an incredible organisation that changes the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people at risk in Western Australia. We currently operate in 16 locations, with 10 regional and six metropolitan centres and numerous, Blue Light Youth Activities and Police Ranger Units across the state. Our organisation is unique through its partnership with the WA Police, and mission simple - to help all children and young people achieve their potential.

Position Profile:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Management Accountant role will initially be responsible for the financial management of grants, the preparation of timely and accurate acquittals to grant providers and the preparation of monthly financial reports. They will be responsible for tasks that require strong interpretational, analytical and spreadsheets skills. This role will also provide general support to the finance team and undertake additional duties as directed by the Finance Manager or the EM, F&BS.
The aim of the Senior Management Accountant role is to work within the Finance team to deliver professional services, and to provide advice and support to the organisation in an effective and efficient manner to ensure that the needs of the business are being met.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly management reports and track financial performance against budget for Centre Managers, Head Office Departments, and the Board, including providing commentary and updating forecasts;
  • Prepare cashflow forecasts and assist with cash flow reporting;
  • Assist the Finance Manager in playing a lead role in the preparation and compilation of annual budgets, including liaising with Centre Managers and Head Office Departments;
  • Complete month end accounting tasks, including balance sheet reconciliations and processing end-of-month adjustments and journals;
  • Support the Finance Manager in the liaison with Executive Managers, members of the leadership team and Centre Managers on a regular basis about budgets, finances, invoices, grants management, centre management costs and financial reporting requirements;
  • Ensure grant income is recognised in accordance with the terms of the Agreement;
  • Liaise at least quarterly with Centre Mangers to confirm that grant expenditure is accurate and ensure that complete and accurate financial records are maintained for each grant;
  • Prepare grant acquittals, supporting documentation and workbooks, liaising with auditors as required;
  • Reconcile grant income and deferred liabilities at the end of financial year, adjusting for any unspent funds;
  • Assist with the preparation of the Fringe Benefits Tax Return and liaise with external accountants for lodgement;
  • Review and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) on a regular basis;
  • Ensure WA PCYC's Superannuation Guarantee Charge obligations are being met;
  • Prepare Special Purpose Financial Statements and grant acquittals as required and for annual audit, and liaise with external auditors;
  • Assist the Finance Manager to assist and train other finance staff to enhance their ability to support the efficient and effective operation of the Finance function;
  • Assist the EM, F&BS or the Finance Manager in implementing successful process improvement initiatives across the organisation, including procedure improvement, policy updates and software improvements;
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with staff, volunteers, stakeholders, clients and community representatives.
Selection Criteria:

Essential:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting or Business
  • Financial management skills including demonstrated experience and knowledge of budget and financial statement preparation, financial analysis, Australian Accounting Standards, and Tax legislation (GST, SGC and FBT)
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to explore new ideas demonstrating creative approaches to achieving outcomes
  • Well-developed computer skills, including in the use of MS Office Suite, expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated self-management, time management and organisational skills including the capacity to manage pressure and multiple deadlines through a flexible approach
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex information to others in terms which are understandable by the audience
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to provide a high standard of customer service, whilst maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
  • Dedication and Resilience.
Desirable:
  • CA/CPA, or equivalent accounting qualification
  • Previous experience in a non-profit organisation
  • Experience with Sybiz Vision and/or Deputy
Other:
  • Hold or willing to obtain a current National Police Clearance
